The community woodland group are planning an extra woodland clean-up session in both January and February. This will give us 3 consecutive weeks working in the woodland. Why not come along and help burn off the Christmas and New Year calories – plus its really quite enjoyable.
We meet on the grassed area on Birch Drive at 10am and expect the session to last for approximately 2 hours but you’re more than welcome to stay as long as you like.
What we’ll be doing in the woodland:
We thought we’d put together a short video to give some idea of the types of things we’ll be doing in the woodland.
This will include:
- Removing non-native invasive species – including Western Hemlock and Beech regeneration
- Pruning branches overhanging paths
- Pruning shrubs
- Removing some of the layering of the Rhododendron ponticum so we can re-claim our path
But I have never done anything like this before:
That’s OK – many of us were the same! Every session starts with a safety briefing and demonstrations/training on how to carry out any tasks we’ll be undertaking. We also always work as a team so there will be people on hand to help during the session.
January/February Dates:
25 January 2025
1 February 2025
8 February 2025
What to wear/bring:
